When we took our first phone call on October 19, 1983, our goal was to simplify life on and off the road. Trucking companies needed a better way to get intermodal equipment repaired so they could get reimbursed - the solution was InterStar. John Shortridge, InterStar's CEO, started the company with just three employees. He had worked for the Southern Railway, now Norfolk Southern, for many years as a Manager in the Intermodal Department. He knew how trucking companies struggled getting service and following the regulations required to be paid. Rod Goderwis, our President, started in May 1984 and was one of our first dispatchers. Equipment owners liked our service because it provided control over their fleets, and truckers liked it because it was fast and saved them money.
Today InterStar services more than just intermodal needs; we provide emergency breakdown solutions for the entire transportation industry.
We provide quality tires and excellent service with consistent pricing and an unparalleled warranty to every company, from the single owner operator to the largest fleet. Whether the need is tire, mechanical or towing, InterStar has a managed vendor network to cover your breakdown anywhere in the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. Our call center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so you will always talk to one of our trained professionals - never a recording or an answering service. You can rest assured that your repair is monitored and managed throughout the entire process, and the information collected is available in customized reports that fit your company's needs.
Because of our strong history, the outlook for our future is exciting. InterStar's corporate office houses the center of operations and offers extensive growth opportunities. Our warehouse, at over 19,000 square feet, stores and distributes tires as well as process tires for our Tire Recovery Program.
We are a leading service provider in the transportation industry and, as a result, we have and will continue to explore new business opportunities.
